How To: Download the iOS 10 GM on Your iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch Right Now

How To: Download the iOS 10 GM on Your iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch Right Now
The new iOS 10 won't be released to the public until September 13 via an OTA update, but the Gold Master edition is available right now. Essentially, it's the same version that Apple will release on the 13th, but only for developers so they can get their apps up to snuff before everyone updates. Users on the iOS 10 public beta will not be getting this GM update.Update: Apple started issuing the iOS 10 GM Candidate to Public Beta users, so if you want to skip the long process below, just sign up for the Apple Beta Software Program to get the iOS 10.0.1 GM edition. It's that easy. But you can get the iOS 10.0.01 GM version right now using a Restore Image if you own a Mac computer. It's a little bit of work and requires about 18 GB of hard drive space, give or take a gigabyte or two, but it's a fairly easy process. (See update above!)Don't Miss: Preorder & Release Dates for the iPhone 7 & 7 Plus

Step 1: Install Xcode 8Since you'll be using a Restore Image from Apple to upgrade to the new iOS 10.0.1 GM edition, it's important that you install Xcode 8 on your Mac before doing anything else. Since Xcode is only available for Mac OS (soon to be macOS), Windows users will not be able to update to the iOS 10 GM. If you try to update without Xcode, you may experience an error code.Download Xcode 8 from Apple Using the above link, head to Apple to download Xcode 8. You'll be required to sign into the Developer portal to actually download the file. You don't actually need to be a developer to download it, so don't worry. Just log in with your Apple ID and password that you use on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. Then just hit the "Download Xcode 8" link. The file is over 4 GB, so it might take awhile to download, and it's about 3 times that size once you unzip it—so make sure you have enough space on your hard drive. Once it's ready, double-click on the "Xcode_8_GM_seed.xip" file in your Downloads folder to expand it, then move the app over to your Applications folder if you want to keep things neat and tidy.Next, open the app up to start the install process. It will verify the app for a bit, then, depending on your Gatekeeper settings, will ask you if you want to open it, since it was downloaded from outside of the Mac App Store. Select "Open." A popup will ask you to agree to the SDK license, so do that, then input your admin password on your Mac to install all of Xcode's components. If you have iTunes open, you'll have to quit it to proceed. Once you see the image below on your screen, you're all set. You can close Xcode now, or leave it open while you do the rest of the steps below.
Step 2: Download Your Device's IPSW FileUsing one of the links below, download the appropriate IPSW restore image.iPhone SE iPhone 6s, iPhone 6 iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6 Plus iPhone 5s iPhone 5c, iPhone 5 9.7-inch iPad Pro 12.9-inch iPad Pro iPad mini 4, iPad Air 2, iPad mini 3 iPad Air, iPad mini 2 iPad (4th gen) iPod touch (6th gen)

Step 3: Update iTunesGo ahead and open iTunes up on your computer and make sure it's the most recent version, 12.4.3. Just select "iTunes" from the menu bar, then "Check for Updates" to see, and update if needed.

Step 4: Connect Your iOS DeviceUsing a good-quality USB cable (a bad one could result in an error code, such as 14), connect your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch to your computer. If your device is locked, you may need to unlock it first before iTunes can recognize it. Also, if you've never connected your device before, you may be asked to "Trust This Computer." Just follow the onscreen steps to do so, then select the iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch icon when it appears in iTunes.

Step 5: Update to Your Restore ImageOn the Summary page, simply hold down Option on your keyboard and click the "Check for Update" button. In the new window, navigate to your Downloads folder, select the IPSW file that you downloaded in Step 2 above, then click "Open." A popup will appear asking you to confirm; Go ahead and click "Update."

Step 6: Finish Up on Your iOS DeviceAfter starting the update, iTunes will extract the software, verify it, then update your iOS device. Keep an eye on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch, because you'll need "Press Home to Upgrade" and then enter your passcode. Your device should reboot, then you'll need to sign in with your Apple ID password to activate the installation. And that's it! You're done. You can verify you're running the iOS 10.0.1 GM by going to Settings -> General -> About and looking at the "Version" section. Go to the App Store and update any apps that need it, then check out our guide below to see all of the cool new things you can do with iOS 10 on your device.Don't Miss: 60+ Cool New iOS 10 Features You Need to Know AboutFollow Gadget Hacks on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and YouTube Follow Apple Hacks on Facebook and Twitter Follow WonderHowTo on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+

How To: Install the Leaked Lollipop Firmware on Your Galaxy Note 3 (Update: Now for AT&T)

How To: Install the Leaked Lollipop Firmware on Your Galaxy Note 3 (Update: Now for AT&T)
Android 5.0 "Lollipop" has only existed for a few months, but a leaked version of Samsung's take on the firmware has already been spotted in the wild. This update came straight from Samsung, and brings with it a plethora of new features, including greatly improved performance and a revamped TouchWiz UI.Before you decide whether or not you'd like to install this new firmware, note that it will only work on the LTE Variant of the N9005 model. For the most part, this means that only devices purchased in North America are compatible, and only those with LTE connectivity. And as a rule of thumb, Verizon Wireless and AT&T phones are not eligible to sideload updates, since both of these carriers like to tamper with the stock firmware on their Android devices. You should also know that this procedure will wipe all of the data on your device. If you have any important files stored on your Samsung Galaxy Note 3, make sure they're all backed up before proceeding. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.

Update (4/3/15): Lollipop for AT&T Note 3Android 5.0 is now available to flash on the AT&T variant of the Galaxy Note 3 (N900A). Download the four files below:AP slot download (MD5: 52a7be63a94f034d7d285d046e06420f) BL slot download (MD5: 40b3395b138ef8c657089a29df1239fb) CP slot download (MD5: 59476097cb52e6672e3a5302a10d5093) CSC slot download (MD5: cde59a77b4d45c62869a5dd318233a69) ...and follow the same exact steps below to flash them to your device using ODIN. This method will wipe your data, so make sure to back up your device.Alternatively, you can use this single MD5 file and place it in the AP slot in ODIN, which will not wipe your data. If you elect to go this route and experiencing excessive lag or app crashes, we'd recommend going into the stock recovery (volume up + home + power buttons from an off state) and wiping system cache. Android 5.0 running on the AT&T Galaxy Note 3.
RequirementsN9005 Galaxy Note 3 (LTE variant only) Windows PC USB data cable
Step 1: Download Necessary FilesTo get started, there are a few files that you'll need to download to your Windows PC.First, grab the Samsung USB drivers from this link. Once downloaded, just open the file and follow the prompts to install the drivers. After that, grab a copy of Minimal ADB and Fastboot from this link. This tool will be used to back up an essential file on your Note 3, so run the installer and follow the prompts to get it installed.Next, you'll need to download Odin, which is software for Windows that allows you to install firmware on a Samsung device. You can find Odin at this link, and once you have it downloaded, extract the two files in the ZIP to a folder that you can access easily. Finally, it's time to grab a copy of the leaked firmware itself. The file is rather large at 1.1GB, so make sure you have room on your hard drive, then click this link to save it to your PC.

Step 2: Enable USB Debugging on Your Note 3In order to back up one essential file, you'll need to enable "USB debugging" on your Note 3. From the main Settings menu, head to the "General" tab, then find the "Developer options" menu and tick the box next to "USB debugging." If the Developer options menu is not present, head to "About device," then tap the "Build number" entry 7 times to unlock it.

Step 3: Back Up Your Old PIT FileNext, plug your Note 3 into your PC using a good quality USB data cable. At this point, you should see a dialog box on your phone asking if you'd like to allow this computer to connect to your phone. Tick the box next to "Always allow from this computer", then press "OK." Back on the PC, open the Minimal ADB and Fastboot program that you installed earlier. In the command prompt window, type the following two commands (each followed by the enter key):db shell su -c "dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/sdcard/My-N9005.pit bs=1 skip=17408 count=4244" adb pull /sdcard/My-N9005.pit This will make a copy of the PIT file and store it on your PC in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot folder.

Step 4: Extract the Contents of the Leaked Firmware FileNext up, find the N9005XXUGBNL8 5.0.7z firmware file that you downloaded in Step 1. Extract the contents of this file into a folder that you can access easily. At this point, you should be left with a series of files ending with the extension MD5.

Step 5: Put Your Phone into Download ModeYou'll be using Odin to install the files you just extracted. For Odin to be able to access the system partitions of your device, you'll need to put your phone into Download Mode.Start by powering your phone completely off. When the screen goes black, press and hold the home, volume down, and power buttons simultaneously. After a few seconds, a warning message will appear, but like it says, press the volume up key to confirm your choice. When you have successfully entered Download Mode, plug your phone into your PC with a good quality USB cable.

Step 6: Load the Firmware Files in OdinBack over on your PC, locate the Odin3 v3.09.exe file that you extracted from the ZIP in Step 1. From here, right-click it, then select "Run as administrator." Next, wait until Odin has connected to your Note 3. It may take a few minutes, but you'll know when it's ready when the "ID:COM" box turns light blue and displays a COM port number. After that, click the "AP" button towards the middle of the Odin window. Next, navigate to the folder with the extracted firmware files. Locate the MD5 file that starts with the letters "AP," then select it and click open. Wait for a minute or two until Odin has successfully loaded this file. When it has, the readout in the bottom-left corner will say "Leave CS" and the AP box will have a check mark next to it. After that, repeat this same process for the "BL," "CP," and "CSC" buttons and their associated MD5 files. When you're finished, all four buttons should have check marks next to them.

Step 7: Flash the FirmwareThis next part will be a little different depending on whether you have the 16GB version of the Note 3 or the 32GB version. With the 32GB version, make sure that the "Auto Reboot," "Re-Partition," and "F. Reset Time" boxes in Odin are all ticked. If you have the 16GB version, make sure that only the "Auto Reboot" and "F.Reset Time" boxes are ticked—do not tick the "Re-Partition" box. When you're ready, click the "Start" button near the bottom of the window to install the firmware. The process will take 5-10 minutes and your phone will automatically reboot when it's finished. If you have the 16GB version, you'll have to perform a factory reset after the firmware has been installed. Safari 101: All the 3D Touch Tricks You Should Be Using

Safari 101: All the 3D Touch Tricks You Should Be Using
Introduced on the iPhone 6s, 3D Touch is just about the closest thing to a "right-click" that we have on iOS. Apple and app developers utilize this feature to give us helpful options that might otherwise clutter the overall app experience, as well as opportunities to "peek" into an action without committing to it. Safari on iPhone is no exception. If you aren't already using 3D Touch on Safari, the tips below will make you wonder why you haven't started sooner. These options will both speed up and enhance surfing the internet with Apple's default web browser. Some of the tips might seem obvious to anyone who uses 3D Touch on a regular basis, but some are more subtle, so if you consider yourself a pro 3D Toucher, you still might learn a thing or two.Don't Miss: All the iOS Safari Tips & Tricks You Need to Know

1. Use Quick Actions on the Home ScreenWhile not all apps have 3D Touch-enabled icons on the home screen, Safari, as with most stock iOS apps, does. Simply press deeply on the Safari icon to open its menu of quick actions:Show Reading List: Tap this to launch Safari and open your Reading List. Don't worry about losing any of your open webpages when this happens; Safari opens the Reading List in a new tab, so all of your existing activity is left untouched. Show Bookmarks: Tap this to open your Bookmarks folder. Like with the Reading List, Safari will open your Bookmarks in a new tab, so you won't lose any of the pages you already have open. New Private Tab: This option gives you a fast way to jump into a private window in Safari. When you're done, you still have to get out of private mode the old-fashioned way. New Tab: Select this to open a new tab in Safari. Don't Miss: How to Save a Webpage to Your Home Screen for Instant Access

2. Interact with Links Inside WebpagesIf you push lightly into a link in a web article rather than tap on it, then hold the position, it will load a preview of its webpage without you needing to leave the site you're on. Apple calls this action a "peek," and it's a quick way to see if this link is worth opening in the first place. If you like what you see, simply press harder on the screen to "pop" into that webpage. But that's not all you can do with 3D Touch. When you're holding the "peek," you can swipe up instead of popping into the full webpage. This will open a 3D Touch menu, just like the one you see on the home screen.Open in New Tab: This is a good option for those who don't want to leave the webpage they are on but do want to open the link in question. Selecting "Open in New Tab" will force you to switch to the new tab, but you can always switch back to the previous page with the tab switcher. Open in Background: This option appears if you have "In Background" enabled for opening links in the Safari settings. When you select this option, the link drops to the tabs button in the bottom-right corner, indicating that page has opened as a separate tab without taking you right to it. Add to Reading List: Select this option to add the link to your Reading List. This is especially useful if you don't have time to view that link now but know you want to in the future. Copy: This simply copies the link's URL to your iPhone's clipboard, so you can message the link to a friend, save it to Notes, or manually load the site yourself. Share: Opens the share sheet, which allows you to send that link to other devices, apps, services, etc. Choose from AirDrop at the top of the sheet, apps from the second row, or activities from the bottom row. The bottom row will only show "Copy," which will copy the URL, or "Save to Files," which allows you to save the link to your iCloud Drive or the "On My iPhone" folder. You can tap "More" to add more options if any are available.

3. Interact with Photos on WebpagesImages have their own 3D Touch options separate from links. However, this only applies if you are interacting with the image itself, i.e., you're viewing the photo's actual location on the web, usually ending in a file extension such as .jpg, .png, etc. If the photo is embedded in the webpage you are viewing, your 3D Touch options will be the same as with a link, so see the section above for more info on that. When you peek at an image file, it floats above the page as a link preview would. If you pop into it, the photo will just refresh. However, instead of popping to refresh, you can swipe up and view a new 3D Touch menu just for photos:Save Image: This option saves the image to your Photos app. It will be located in your main "Camera Roll" album and not any other albums. Copy: Select this to copy the image. This is useful if you don't want the image to be saved to your iPhone, but will allow you to paste it into, say, a messaging app. An actual image file (left) vs. an embedded image in an article (right).

4. View Tabs More Clearly Before Selecting OneWhile they don't have as intricate a 3D Touch system as the above-mentioned options, tabs are still 3D Touch-compatible. When in the tabs viewer, simply peek a tab to bring it more into focus. This will allow you to preview its contents better before deciding whether or not to pop into it.The effect here isn't as discernable as in other areas of Safari, so be careful — too much pressure, and you'll just open the tab. There is no 3D Touch menu here, but you can close out of tabs while peeking at them by swiping to the left. Don't Miss: How to Close All Your Open Safari Tabs at the Same Time

5. Peek & Pop Bookmarks, Reading List & HistoryWhile each varies differently from each other, your Bookmarks, Reading List, and History folders all have the same 3D Touch features. While they lack 3D Touch menus, you can preview any entry in each of the folders using 3D Touch, just as you would a photo or link on a webpage.Just tap the book icon at the bottom of the display, then tap the book, glasses, or clock icon to open Bookmarks, Reading List, or History, respectively. Peek any of the entries in the folder in question to preview it.Keep in mind: if you push harder, you will pop into that page in the tab you launched the Bookmarks, Reading List, or History folder from. It might be best to open these folders in a new tab first to avoid losing a tab.Don't Miss: How to Use the Reading List to Save Articles, Videos & More for Later Viewing

6. Peek & Pop Your Favorite Webpages & SitesYour Favorites menu appears when you open a new tab or tap on the URL bar in a current tab. All of these links can be peeked and popped using 3D Touch. Unfortunately, however, there are no 3D Touch menus here. You can peek a link to preview it in a floating window, then pop into it if you want to. Additionally, you can peek a Favorites' folder, which you can then pop into.

7. Interact with Safari from Other AppsSafari isn't just limited to its own app. You can use 3D Touch to preview and interact with links in other apps, especially stock iOS ones (some third-party apps will use their own in-app browser instead of Safari).Your 3D Touch experience will be the same in all situations where a link would open Safari normally. When you peek a link, the webpage opens in a floating preview window. Here, you can see the page without opening it, just as you can in the methods above. Swipe up, and you can access the 3D Touch menu, which includes options "Open Link," "Add to Reading List," "Copy Link," and "Share."Here's an example of how the process works in Messages and in Mail. You can expect the same in most other apps that link directly to Safari. Even some third-party apps that have their own in-app browser have a way to quickly open links in Safari using 3D Touch. In Facebook, peek a link, then swipe up and scroll to "Open in Safari." Twitter, on the other hand, allows you to select "Share Via" from the 3D Touch Menu, then tap "Open in Safari" from the list of activities.

8. Peek, Pop & More in Spotlight ResultsSafari links found in a Spotlight search are 3D Touch-compatible as well. When you search for a website, page, or anything in between, any link that appears in the search can be peeked into a floating preview window and popped to open in its respective app. Just know, popping a link into its respective app will leave your Spotlight search, but you can return by tapping on "Search" in the status bar.Note: Spotlight search will bring you results for many, non-Safari related things. If you peek or pop a link that doesn't work with Safari, like a news or email link, it will open the News or Mail app, not Safari. When peeking at a search, you also have access to a small 3D Touch menu if you swipe up. Your options include "Add to Reading List," "Copy," and "Open in Safari."
3D Touch Tab Switching Is Still MissingWhile we would love to walk you through this awesome use of 3D Touch, we can't — Apple has yet to implement 3D Touch tab switching nearly five months after the official release of iOS 11.While features like AirPlay 2, Apple Pay Cash, and Messages on iCloud all saw late launches on this latest version of iOS, 3D Touch tab switching is nowhere to be seen. At least we know Business Chat is on its way — Apple has no news on the fate of this 3D Touch feature.Don't Miss: How to Request Desktop Sites in Safari on Your iPhoneFollow Gadget Hacks on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Flipboard Follow WonderHowTo on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Flipboard

How To: Your Complete Guide to Using Remote Desktop on the Microsoft Surface and Windows 8
Remote Desktop gives you access to your Windows 8 PC or device from wherever you are to run your applications and access your files remotely.Left an important document on your work computer? Want to run a legacy x86 desktop app from your Surface? You can use Remote Desktop to access that document or app from your laptop, tablet, or desktop instead of running back home or to the office. All you need to do is set up the connections and permissions to enable the devices you want to have access to and gain access from.

Launching Remote DesktopFrom the Start screen in Windows 8, you can simply type in "Remote Desktop" to access the program. If you don't already have it installed, you can download it from the Windows Store.

Enabling Remote Connections to Your Windows 8 MachineBefore you can remote desktop into your machine, you'll have to allow remote access on each of the machines you want to remote desktop into. You can do so from the desktop by going to Charms -> Settings -> Control Panel -> System and Security -> Allow Remote Access. Once Remote Access is open, you will need to select the radio button to Allow remote connections to this computer. This will make your computer start listening for remote desktop (RDP) connections on TCP port 3389. If you are going to be connecting to this machine from other Windows computers, tablets, phones, or other properly licensed Remote Desktop clients, then checking the second box, Allow connections only from computers running Remote Desktop with Network Level Authentication, is advised as it increases the security requirements for the connection. This allows only trusted Microsoft-friendly devices to access your computer. Here is what the Microsoft Support page has to say about Network Level Authentication (NLA):"Network Level Authentication (NLA) is a new authentication method that completes user authentication before you establish a full Remote Desktop connection and the logon screen appears. This is a more secure authentication method that can help protect the remote computer from hackers and malicious software."If you're trying to connect to your Windows 8 computer with a device that is not running a Windows OS, or are using a third-party remote desktop program that hasn't been properly licensed to use NLA, you will have to UNCHECK that box (just be warned, this is less secure).

Power OptionsOnce you have chosen to allow remote connections and your computer is set up to go to sleep or hibernation when not in use, this prompt will pop up. As it states, if your computer is off, you of course cannot connect to it. So, if you are planning to remotely access your desktop, you will need to go to Power Options and disable sleep and/or hibernation for constant access. You can find these options under Advanced Settings. After you have taken care of that, your computer is ready for remote access.

Connecting to PC from Your Microsoft Surface (Locally)You can easily control your Windows 8 computer's desktop using a Microsoft Surface. This will allow you to remotely run your legacy x86 desktop apps that cannot run on the ARM-powered Windows RT. For this connection, I remained on the same local network, which cuts out a few extra steps required to connect from a different network. All you need to know is the name and login information of the computer you want to remotely control. From your Surface, launch the Remote Desktop application. It will ask you for the name of the computer you wish to connect to. Here you can use the IP address, or the computer name of the PC you want to connect to (You can find the computer name of the PC you want to connect to by opening the file explorer on that PC and right-clicking on Computer, then clicking Properties). After clicking connect, you'll be prompted to enter your login information. This is the same username and password you use to log into your computer locally. Image via guidingtech.com Once that information is verified, you might see a pop-up warning about your security certificate. As long as you know the network you're connecting from is safe, you can ignore this warning and hit Connect. Wait for the connection to take over, and you should be good to go.Here's what it looks like on my Surface. Notice the blue bar at the top showing the name of the computer I am remotely controlling. It is not liquid-smooth connection, but definitely more than adequate for common tasks. Connecting via the same network is very smooth and user friendly on the Surface or any other local device. But when you want to connect from a different network, the process is a little more complicated.
Using Remote Desktop from Outside Your Home NetworkEnabling Remote Access was the easy part, now we have to make sure we can connect from outside our local network. To do this, we're going to need to forward a port on our router so our public IP address points at the private IP address of the PC we want to connect to. If that sounds forign to you, don't worry. We'll walk you through it.

Step 1: Find the IP Address of the PC You Want to Connect ToTo do this you can go to Control Panel -> Network -> Network and Sharing Center. You can also access the menu by right-clicking the computer icon at the toolbar on the desktop. From there, select Local Area Connections -> Details. Your connection details will pop up. You need to take down the IPv4 Address (highlighted below). This is your private IP address. Most private IPs will look something like 192.168.1.X, 192.168.0.X, 192.168.100.X, or 10.X.X.X.
Step 2: Login to Your RouterIf you want to access your computer remotely from a location outside of the local or home network, you need to set up the router to forward the remote requests from the computer you are using, to the private IP of PC you want to access (which you found in the previous step). To do this, you'll need to login to your router. Typically this can be done by replacing the last digit of your private IP address with a 1, and typing it in your web browser's address bar. For example, if your private IP address is 192.168.1.100, your router's IP address would be 192.168.1.1.If you do not know what your router address is, you can usually find it on the router itself or inside the instruction manual it came with. If you can't find it there, you can always contact your internet service provider and ask one of the technicians. When you have the router address, type it directly into the address bar in your browser and hit Enter. You should be prompted for a username and password to login to your router. If you don't know the password, check your router's manual. Typically the default username/password will either be admin/admin, admin/password, administrator/administrator, or it may even be blank (using the username admin).Type in your username and password to gain access to the configuration screen.
Step 3: Enable Port ForwardingOnce logged into your router, look through the menus. As every router is a little bit different, we can't give 100% exact instructions, but you should be able to find a section called Port Forwarding or Port Mapping. If you do not see it, try browsing to the advanced settings area first.Once there, you'll see options to forward port ranges of both TCP and UDP to a specific IP address. You'll want to add an entry that forwards TCP port 3389 (if prompted for 2 port numbers, just type 3389 in both fields) to the private IP address of your PC (which you found in step 1).This will ensure that Remote Desktop Connections going to your public IP address will be forwarded to your local PC.
Step 4: Find Your Public IP AddressNow you are almost ready to remotely connect. All you need to do is find your public IP address to use to connect to it from outside your network. From the PC you want to connect to, you can find out your public IP address by going to ipchicken.com or whatsmyip.org.Note: Several internet providers will give you dynamic IP addresses that might change every few days, or even every time you log in. To avoid having to find your public IP address every single time, you can enable dynamic DNS using one of the many providers, to assign a domain name that will always be up to date with your home connections public IP address.

Step 5: Remote Desktop into Your Home PC from Your SurfaceNow, from your Surface (or any other PC), outside of your local network, launch your remote desktop program. Type in the public IP address for your home PC that you found in Step 4. Click Connect, enter your login information, and you are all ready to go. Full access to your home PC from anywhere in the world! If you have any issues getting Remote Desktop set up, you can take a look at Microsoft's Support Page for answers from both Microsoft employees and the community. If someone else has already had the same issue solved, it could save you a bunch of time.

How To: The Easiest Way to Transfer Files Between Different Cloud Service Accounts on Android
With limited storage options available on the Nexus 5, cloud storage can definitely come in handy. But sometimes, with the seemingly endless options of cloud services for us to choose from, our online data can get a bit disorganized. If you're like me, you've got about 5 or 6 cloud storage accounts. In this case, it's very easy to lose track of what is stored where. And sometimes, the trial period of extra storage space on one of these services can expire, possibly resulting in lost data.Developer i-Smart Solutions has come up with a handy tool to manage all of your cluttered cloud storage. Their app Rainbow bridges the gap between popular services such as Dropbox, Google Drive, Box, and OneDrive, among others. It offers an easy method of transferring any files between these services, allowing you to finally get all of that online data organized. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.

Step 1: Install RainbowHead to the Google Play Store to download Rainbow directly to your device.

Step 2: Attach Your Cloud Service AccountsWhen you first open Rainbow, you'll be shown a list of all the services it is capable of transferring files between. Tap one of your services to begin. On the next screen, you can give this account a nickname for easy recognition. When you're satisfied with your entry, tap the Forward Arrow at the top to proceed. Next, you'll be asked to enter the login credentials for this cloud account, and when that's finished, you'll be asked to grant Rainbow access to manage this account. Next, you'll be taken back out to the main screen. Here, you can repeat this process for any other cloud services you want Rainbow to manage.

Step 3: Transfer Files Between ServicesWhen you've got all of your cloud accounts in order, you can start moving files between them. Tap the Data Transfer tab at the top of Rainbow's home screen, then select the cloud service that you want to move files away from. Next, you'll be shown a list of all the files you have stored on the selected account. From here, tap any file that you would like to move and select Copy. There's also an option for Delete if you want to clean things up a bit, but to move a file, pick Copy. Next, you'll be shown the same screen, where you can repeat the process of picking files and pressing "Copy" until you've selected all of the files you'd like to move. When you're satisfied, hit the Forward Arrow at the top, then select the cloud service that you would like to move the files to. On the next screen, choose the folder where you'd like to store these files on the new cloud service, then tap the Forward Arrow. A confirmation dialog will appear, where you should hit Yes. On the next screen, tap Transfer Files to get things going. A toast message will appear letting you know that the transfer has started. You can check the notification tray to see the progress of your transfer. It should now be easy to transfer files between all of your cloud storage services. What services did you transfer between? Did you run out of space on one, or were you just consolidating all of your online data? Let us know in the comments section below.

How To: Record Your iPhone's Screen with Audio in iOS 11 No Jailbreak or Computer Needed

How To: Record Your iPhone's Screen with Audio in iOS 11 No Jailbreak or Computer Needed
The only official way to record your iPhone's screen before was to hook it up to a Mac and use QuickTime Player to do the recording for you. If you wanted to record your iPhone's screen without an external device, there were unofficial apps you could use, like AirShou, but they required complicated installations. Now, in iOS 11, Apple has finally given us an official, native screen recording tool. With iOS 11's native "Screen Recording" tool, you can not only record a video of your iPhone's screen, but you can also record audio and voiceovers. After recording, it will be saved to your Photos app where you can trim the video down to remove the footage of when you started and stopped the recording. Let's see how it works below.Don't Miss: How to Turn Your iPhone's Auto-Brightness Off in iOS 11

Step 1: Add the Screen Recording ShortcutJust like the Flashlight tool, the Screen Recording tool doesn't have an app — just a control option for the Control Center — but it's not enabled by default. To set it up, head over to your Settings app, then tap on "Control Center." From there, select "Customize Controls," then scroll down to find "Screen Recording" and tap on the green "plus" icon next to it to add it to the Control Center.

Step 2: Start Recording Your ScreenOnce you've added the Screen Recording control tile, you'll now see the Screen Recording toggle that you can tap on whenever you want to record your screen.By default, screen recordings will also record any in-app music and sounds while video recording. However, if you want your screen recording to record your voice, simply perform a long press or 3D Touch on the control tile to open its very own control window, then tap on the mic icon on the bottom to toggle audio on or off before you start recording. You can also tap "Start Recording" from this window to start recording, too.Don't Miss: You Can Finally Access Extra Control Center Features Without 3D Touch in iOS 11No matter how you initiate the screen recording, you'll have a three-second countdown before the screen recording will actually start, which helps with less required editing later. Once a recording is initiated, the status bar will turn red and remain that way until you stop it. This red bar will appear in your recorded video anywhere the status bar is usually seen, and there's no way to turn that off, but it's an easy-to-forgive tradeoff for native screen recording in iOS. If you're recording gameplay footage, the red status bar likely won't be shown, since most games hide the status bar.

Step 3: Stop Your Video RecordingTo stop a recording, you can just pull up the Control Center again and tap on the Screen Recording icon or long press or 3D Touch on it and press "Stop Recording." Alternatively, you can tap on the red recording indicator in the status bar, if you see one, then tap on "Stop."Once you stop recording, you'll get a notification that you can tap on to quickly view the video in the Photos application. You can also just go to the Photos app directly to find the video in your "Camera Roll" and "Video" albums. Don't Miss: How to Unlock the New 'Dark Mode' in iOS 11 for iPhone

Step 4: Edit Your VideoIn the Photos app, simply select the "Edit" button on your video. To trim it, just tap and hold on one of the black arrows on either side of the frame viewer, and move it inward. The yellow cropping indicator will show up to help you see better. You can preview the video anytime by tapping on the play button in the bottom center.Once you're satisfied with the video's length, tap on "Done" in the bottom right and select "Save as New Clip" to save it. This won't overwrite the current clip, so you don't have to worry about losing the original screen recording. Don't Miss: 90+ Cool New iOS 11 Features You Didn't Know AboutApple removed the time indicator from a beta version that showed how long you've been recording since it unnecessarily ended up in the final footage. So maybe we'll see some future updates to this screen-recording feature, like the ability to automatically exit the Control Center once a screen recording has been initiated. What refinements would you like on iOS 11's screen-recording feature to make it as hassle-free as possible? Usually a developer beta build comes out first and is soon followed up by a public beta version of the same build. It's unclear why a sixth beta build of iOS 12.3 was released so quickly after the fifth beta build was released only days ago, but it could just be a natural acceleration of the beta release schedule, or perhaps a notable bug was discovered that Apple wanted to prioritize.

How To: Turn Your Galaxy S10's Camera Cutout into a Notification LED

How To: Turn Your Galaxy S10's Camera Cutout into a Notification LED
Though many were hoping for it, a notification indicator around the Galaxy S10's front camera punch hole never came to fruition. Since then, we've been finding other uses for the camera cutout, from turning it into a circular battery meter to using creative wallpapers. Thankfully, there's now an app that will give you LED-style alerts with a ring around your S10's camera.Developed by Chainfire of SuperSU fame, the appropriately named Holey Light app finally brings the sought after functionality to the S10, S10+, and S10e — no root required. And despite still being in development, the app is a lot more useful than Good Lock's confusing NotiStar add-on. It's is free to install, though you'll have to go through a brief setup process to get everything working correctly.Don't Miss: Hide the Navigation Bar & Enable Gestures on Your Galaxy S10

Step 1: Install Holey LightBefore you install the app, it's important to note that Holey Light is still in its beta stages, so you might encounter minor issues with inconsistent notifications. That being said, the app does a pretty good job of lighting up your S10's camera cutout, despite the minor bugs. While it's available on the Play Store, Holey Light may not appear in your search results due to its beta status. So head the link below to install the app.Play Store Link: Holey Light (free)

Step 2: Enable PermissionsOnce you open Holey Light, you'll need to go through a brief setup process involving enabling Always On Display and tweaking how the notification LED will appear, in addition to granting the app four permissions in order for the LED notifications to bite on your S10. So read through the prompts carefully and make sure to grant all four permissions requested.Keep in mind that for the fist permission prompt, you'll need to make sure Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are turned on. After pressing "OK" on the prompt, select your Wi-Fi network from the list. This is needed as a workaround to prevent Android from hiding notifications from Holey Light. When you're done with that, follow the prompts to grant the last three permissions.

Step 3: Adjust Holey Light SettingsNow, the app is ready to use, but you may want to adjust some options. First, if you want the notification ring to show up while you're using your phone, tick the box next to "Screen on," and choose from one of the options presented on the menu overlay, depending on your preferences. Then, if you want to see the notification ring with the screen off, tick "Screen off" and hit "Disabled" on the overlay. Beyond that, you can control when notifications are marked as seen. When these conditions are met, the ring animation will stop showing up. This is useful if you want the camera cutout to stop strobing without requiring that you dismiss the notification from your notification tray. However, it may prevent you from seeing the effect in certain situations, for example, if you picked up your phone without noticing it, then promptly put it back down.So it's your call, but go through each of the "Mark as seen" sections and enable or disable the tick-boxes next to each condition. They're fairly self-explanatory — for example, checking the box next to "On Lockscreen" in the "Mark as seen: Lockscreen" will cause the notification ring to stop appearing for a pending notification as soon as you wake your device and show the lock screen. In addition to the settings above, you can fine tune the LED alerts to better fit the S10's punch hole and set its animation speed under the "Animation" section. You can customize the lighting even further by setting different colors that correspond with different apps to better sort your notifications, or simply set the animation color to black if you want alerts to be disabled for a particular service or app. While technically still not a finished product, Holey Light has certainly improved by leaps and bounds thanks to constant updates, and appears to be working for most users. In testing the app, we've found that besides Gmail, Facebook, WhatsApp, and text messages, the notification LED now also works for both Facebook Messenger and Google Calendar, and other smaller apps.Unfortunately, we also found that while the notification LED works on both the home and lock screens, the app is still a little inconsistent when showing alerts for the latter. Finally, the app failed to trigger while on Always On Display, even with the setting ticked on — at least when tested on an unlocked Galaxy S10. Be sure to share your experiences with the app on the comment section below.Don't Miss: More Tips & Tricks for Your Galaxy S10Follow Gadget Hacks on Pinterest, Reddit, Twitter, YouTube, and Flipboard Sign up for Gadget Hacks' daily newsletter or weekly Android and iOS updates Follow WonderHowTo on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Flipboard
